Artists, hipsters, hippies, “bourgeois-bohème” (bobo)… This is the cultural diversity that explains the free spirit of Le Plateau Mont-Royal. This neighbourhood in Montréal is well-known as one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in North America!

A combination of factors make Le Plateau Mont-Royal the place to be…

Composed of a relatively young population (young families, artists, students, young professionals), this neighbourhood features many trendy restaurants, bars and several vintage and independent designer clothing shops. In addition to its important concentration of artists (who make up around 7% of the working population), Le Plateau Mont-Royal has an important cultural hub of theatres, art galleries, dance companies and performance schools.

Along with its reputation for being ‘hip’, the neighbourhood is known for its fabulous quality of life.

In fact, the neighbourhood is one of the greenest in the city with the famous La Fontaine park and the Mont Royal park (there are also more than twenty smaller parks in Le Plateau!). Le Plateau Mont-Royal is the initiator of the “Green Street Movement” (an Eco-Neighbourhood Program) with residents committed to re-introducing nature into the urban landscape through planting trees and flowers, revitalising verges and keeping the streets clean.

Finally, Le Plateau Mont-Royal is a vibrant place; it is the perfect place for party people, with Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Saint Denis Street known as the best streets for nightlife.
