Taking a road trip is always fun, particularly in Canada because the country is one of the biggest in the world with a huge array of amazing landscapes. Depending on where you live in Canada there are a number of legendary road trips to choose from.
From Vancouver – The sea to sky highway
The sea to sky highway is the name given to the highway 99 in British Columbia. It is known as one of the most beautiful road in Canada, perfect for a road trip. The highway starts by Howe Sound, located only 35km away north of Vancouver, where the Pacific Ocean meets the mountains. If you continue to the north, you can stop at Squamish, a beautiful coastal city known for its hiking trails and rock climbing. In Squamish, don’t miss the Sea to Sky gondola (click here for more information)! Then, you can continue through Whistler, a touristic ski resort town situated in the Coast Mountains. In winter you can ski, snowboard, and in summer the area is popular for mountain biking and hiking.
From Toronto – Circle Lake Ontario
Taking a road trip around Lake Ontario means you’ll pass through both Canada and United States as the border goes through the middle of the lake. You can leave from Toronto and visit some of the coastal villages and cities. You can stop at the African Lion Safari in Hamilton (click here for more information), be amazed by the Niagara Falls and enjoy the fun city of Niagara. Then you can pass by Golden Hill State Park, or by Selkirk Shores to observe the birds and the beauty of the lake, then Prescott, Kingston, and before returning to Toronto, visit Prince Edward County and its vineyards.
From Calgary – via TransCanada highway
There are beautiful landscapes in the north of Calgary, and many things to do. You can start from Calgary and travel to the Columbia Icefields, approximately four hours from Calgary, in the Rocky Mountains – it is the largest icefield in the Rockies. When you return to Calgary, you can stop by Lake Louise, a charming lake, or by Banff to play golf and take the mountain gondola, or by Canmore for a bite to eat and a swim in Quarry Lake.
All of these road trips will allow you to admire the beauty of Canada, whether it be lakes, mountains, or oceans. Be sure to enjoy it with the people you love!
