When we move to a new country, there are many things we don’t think about. We think we start a new life, that everything is going to be better and tend to forget some small but important details.

When visiting a house, we all look at the place, and the space, think about new furniture, and were to put the sofa, if the metro station is not too far away and if the area is safe at night; but there’s one thing we should never forget : our allergies.

According to your sensibility, check the surroundings of your new house. Is there a factory close to the house? Check if anything could increase your allergies.

The nice flowerbed in front of the house could be a source of allergies for you or your children. Sometimes, when visiting a place during the winter, you don’t think about this detail, and then, with the spring coming, you notice you ignored too much this little detail.

The neighbour has five cats and you’re allergic; think about it too! There are enough nice places in Canada to choose one that will suit you perfectly well.

Check if there is no municipal dump close to your house; if there is no soccer or golf facilities (could mean pesticides).

If you have any question, you can contact CMHC (Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation).
