The Vancouver comedy is well known throughout Canada. The city may not have a comedy scene as large as New York, Boston or Toronto, but it’s a hub of innovation for comedic voices. Many famous comedians, including Seth Rogan, Colin Morchrie,  Ryan Styles and Tommy Chong got their start right here!

Vancouver Comedy Clubs, theatre and shows

You’ll find stand-up comedians, sketch comics, improv and even big-name headliners at Vancouver’s many dedicated comedy clubs. Expect to be entertained by both local and international performers with fresh new jokes.  The Comedy Mix, downtown, is world-class venue is frequently touted as the best of North America. Here, you’ll find top U.S. and Canadian talent. Vancouver Theatresports, on Granville Island, is the place to go for improv shows.  These performances are fast-paces and unscripted. They take prompts from the audience and used props, games and music. If you like your comics to get improvisational, go to Havana Theatre in the hip neighbourhood of Commercial Drive. The China Cloud, a small and mysterious theatre, boasts some great improv too, and lots of sketch. You’ll find lots of great weekly comedy shows (like The Fictionals and Comedy at Corduroy) and monthly shows (like Improv Against Humanity and WHY? Stand-up).

Festivals

And check out the Northwest Comedy Fest in February, for a laugh-out-loud experience that features the biggest up-and-comers and stand-up favorites. Each show is different, and you’ll find a mix of stand-up, improv and sketch.  Venues across the city host events, and you can purchase tickets online.
