When thinking about buying a house in Canada, several organizations are good to know as they might help you. One of these organizations is called Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC); everything (or almost) is said in the name.

CMHC government-owned corporation created in 1946. The corporation is Canada’s first provider of mortgage loan insurance, mortgage-backed securities, housing policy and programs, and housing research.

CMHC works to enhance Canada’s housing finance options, assist Canadians who cannot afford housing in the private market, improve building standards and housing construction, and provide policymakers with the information and analysis they need to sustain a good housing market in Canada.

The corporation’s main office is located in Ottawa, but several smaller offices have been created across the country. Visit the CMHC website for a treasury of  topical articles and useful resources. Their website offers a lot of useful information, whether you are a consumer or an organization.

The corporation also created a category called “First Nations, Métis and Inuit, Housing Organization”; it is dedicated to these minorities and tries to help them the way they deserve it.
