Nous pouvons remercier J.-Omer Martineau, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque ing\u00e9nieur en chef assistant aupr\u00e8s du minist\u00e8re de la Voirie du Qu\u00e9bec, qui eu l\u2019id\u00e9e de cr\u00e9er des panneaux illustr\u00e9s. En effet, en 1923 il entreprit de remplacer les panneaux contenant du texte par d\u2019autres plus imag\u00e9s, car beaucoup de conducteurs ne savaient alors pas lire.
\nLes symboles choisis sont (ou du moins sont cens\u00e9s \u00eatre) compr\u00e9hensibles au premier coup d\u2019oeil. Vous allez tout de suite comprendre pourquoi j\u2019\u00e9mets une r\u00e9serve, il suffit simplement de regarder les photos\u2026
\nDiff\u00e9rentes couleurs sont associ\u00e9es aux panneaux : le vert pour ce qui est obligatoire, le rouge pour ce qui est interdit, le jaune pour le danger et l\u2019orange pour les travaux.
\nAu Qu\u00e9bec l\u2019utilisation du francais est une priorit\u00e9; de ce fait, le fameux panneau stop est naturellement devenu \u201cArr\u00eat\u201d; alors qu\u2019en France le panneau est appel\u00e9 un \u201cStop\u201d. On vous signalera aussi de vous \u201cpr\u00e9parer \u00e0 arr\u00eater\u201d.
\nL\u2019exemple du panneau arr\u00eat est le plus courant mais il y en a d\u2019autres ! Les panneaux sont tr\u00e8s repr\u00e9sentatifs de la province de Qu\u00e9bec, et de ce fait sont peu courants; vous ne les verrez probablement qu\u2019ici (et n\u2019avez certainement jamais song\u00e9 auparavant que de tels panneaux pouvaient exister); il s\u2019agit de s\u2019adapter \u00e0 la mentalit\u00e9 et aux ressources naturelles offertes par le Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n

Par exemple, il y a de nombreux panneaux faisant r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la faune et \u00e0\"\"<\/a> la flore. Certains indiquent la possibilit\u00e9 de rencontrer des camions charg\u00e9s de bois; d’autres mettent en garde de \u00ab\u00a0passages grillag\u00e9s anti cervid\u00e9s\u00a0\u00bb, ou encore, le fameux panneau signalant l’\u00e9ventuelle pr\u00e9sence de caribous ou orignaux.<\/p>\n

Il y a d’autres panneaux de signalisation tout aussi int\u00e9ressants annon\u00e7ant des sites touristiques ou \"\"<\/a>sentiers comme \u00ab\u00a0route des baleines\u00a0\u00bb; \u00ab\u00a0circuit du paysan\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0route du fjord\u00a0\u00bb; tous aussi uniques les uns que les autres et typiquement qu\u00e9becois!<\/p>\n

C’est une autre facon de d\u00e9couvrir la province, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des panneaux particuliers et repr\u00e9sentatifs , on se rend compte de ce que le Qu\u00e9bec peut offrir d’un point de vue culturel.<\/p>\n

Vous rencontrerez aussi des panneaux vous avertissant de lieux d’auto-cueillette ; ou encore d’autres signalant la pratique du paintball. Eh oui, les panneaux donnent l’impression que n’importe qui aurait pu les inventer et les construire; mais, d’une certaine facon, ils rendent la conduite plus amusante.<\/p>\n

Il est inutile de pr\u00e9ciser que vous rencontrerez des panneaux li\u00e9s \u00e0 la neige, \u00e0 la glace; tout ce qui peut faire r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au Qu\u00e9bec, aux hivers et aux moyens de transport de cette saison comme le \u00ab\u00a0skidoo\u00a0\u00bb (le terme qu\u00e9becois pour parler de motoneige), les raquettes…<\/p>\n

Vous vous rendrez compte que parfois l’organisation des panneaux est assez incompr\u00e9hensible; leur agencement et l’endroit de leur implantation rend parfois l’orientation plus difficile que s’il n’y avait pas de panneau du tout…vous ne me croyez pas ? jugez par vous m\u00eame !…<\/p>\n
